Last summer, your amazing Worship Planning team came up with a brainstorm to help make Summer Services more feasible and interesting for families.
Eleven people agreed to be a part of a new, untried program!
We had between 10-17 kids each weekend join us for Youth Hangtime and two of us took turns organizing some simple activities. Some of the things the kids got to do were yoga, Sorry!, coloring, Spot It!, drawing, checkers, card games, chess, legos, crafts, jenga, joke telling, reading, talking, and even building a lemonade stand!
As a result of this program, we noticed many more families present during the summer, more fun had by kids, more creative juices flowing and shared by the talented and loving adults in our midst, and an opportunity for kids age 7-14 to interact in a casual way. Most importantly, in my book.... no LRE teachers were harmed in the administration of this program!!!
If you are not a regular LRE teacher and would like to help make summer worship more fun and convenient for families, please contact Tracy Dullea at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer. Each person only needs to commit to 3 times over the summer to make this program a success.
