Inside Stories
This Year’s Canvass
We’re doing an individual canvass
this year—twenty members from our
community have volunteered to canvass everyone in our community. Very shortly,
someone from the “Canvass Crew” will be contacting you to offer a face-to-face
meeting to discuss the goals for the next church year. This is an opportunity
for you to get the details on our goals for next year and to discuss your
interests, concerns, and involvement in UUSG. Please offer your time to our
canvassers so that we can all learn and understand where we are headed and
collectively meet next year’s goals.
With this in mind, consider pledging early! Forms are available in the Common
Room.
upComing & SPECIAL Events
Daylight Saving Time! Turn your clocks back on Saturday, March 8th.
Social Justice Forum: Peace Wars At 12:30pm on Sunday, Social Justice invites you to come to the Common Room and join a discussion based on Paul Rasor's UU World article proposing a common ground for the Just War and Pacifist positions. Your voice is welcome even if you haven't had a chance to read the article.
It’s Time to “Choose or Be Chosen” Make your choice by March 9 or be chosen! If you haven’t already, please sign up for one greeter slot or social hour host slot on the “Choose or Be Chosen” display in the Common Room. Members and friends who haven’t signed themselves up by March 9 for a slot in March through May will be assigned. You’ll have an opportunity at that time to switch dates or say “no, thanks,” but it’s easier if you sign yourself up now!
Friday Flick on March 14th at 7pm Blackwater in Illinois? Join us in the Common Room to view and discuss documentaries describing the concern about creating facilities for private armies to train. People will have an opportunity to respond to an Action Alert. NOTE: This is a change in the original topic announced in the Pioneer!
New Coffee Machine! We have a new coffee system that makes hosting social hour quite a bit easier. It can make pots of coffee, pots of hot water for tea, or just a single cup of hot water. Take a walk through the kitchen on your way out today and check it out!

Our Covenant (written in 1842)
Being desirous of promoting practical goodness in the world, and of aiding each other in our moral and religious improvement, we have associated ourselves together—not as agreeing in opinion, not as having attained universal truth in belief or perfection in character, but as seekers after truth and goodness.
Our Mission Statement (adopted by the congregation May 19, 1996)
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva is a diverse, welcoming community which endeavors to make its Covenant a living reality. We provide religious education and opportunities for spiritual growth. We encourage individual and mutual responsibility as together we work to be a liberal religious voice in the community and a force for compassionate social justice.
