| The
Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva
is a member congregation of the Unitarian
Universalist Association, an organization of more than 1000 churches
and fellowships representing some 150,000 adult members. Local congregations
are self-governing, electing their own officers and calling their own
ministers.
With an active membership of about 330 adults and a church school community of about 200 children and youth, we are a vigorous, growing, enthusiastic church. We are a diverse group, a worshipping community that ranges theologically from Christian Theist to vehement atheist. Politically we run the gamut from carefully conservative to strongly liberal. And economically span the spectrum from always struggling to comfortably established. Our members are teachers, musicians, technicians, homemakers, executives, laborers, students, and much more. Some of our members have been with us for decades; others have only recently discovered us. Our backgrounds are Christian, Jewish, Universalist, Unitarian, and "none of the above." We do indeed present a picture of diversity. Even so, through all of our differences, we are united by the aims of our 1842 Covenant:
Being desirous of promoting practical goodness in the world, and aiding each other in our moral and religious improvement, we have associated ourselves together: - not as agreeing in opinion, - not as having attained universal truth in belief or perfection in character, but as seekers after Truth & Goodness.
