UUSG Women's retreat
The Women’s Retreat is a space for everyone at UUSG who identifies as a woman to connect and forge deeper bonds with each other. It is a space that allows for relaxation, introspection, and fun.
The Women’s Retreat is an annual opportunity to have a weekend removed from our day-to- day lives to rejuvenate and empower ourselves which allows us to inspire our entire UUSG family and even beyond our walls.
WORKSHOPS & GUIDED MEDITATIONS: Led by facilitator(s), these sessions are the foundation of the retreat and include personal reflection, group discussion, exercises, small group interactions, and guided meditations that concentrate on that year’s retreat theme.
OPTIONAL GROUP SESSIONS: In addition to the workshops led by facilitator(s), the retreat has often featured additional group sessions led by other professionals (past examples include morning yoga, gong meditation, laughter yoga).
OPTIONAL INDIVIDUAL TREATMENTS: Retreat participants have the option to sign up for individual treatments, with additional fee. Past examples are massage, reiki, and reflexology.
OPTIONAL SHARING SESSIONS (proposed): The committee is considering optional informal sessions, organized by participants, for those who would like a little more structure in Saturday’s schedule while practitioners are providing treatments. Examples might include a small craft project, making music, playing a game, discussing a poem, book, or essay, taking a hike, etc.
PRACTICAL MATTERS: Participants choose between staying overnight at the retreat center (single occupancy rooms with shared bathrooms) or commuting from home. We ask that participants commit to attending all group workshops and meal times. All meals are included in the registration fee and are catered or prepared by committee members. Small groups are assigned to meal set up or clean up duty for one meal. If desired, participants may bring an adult beverage to share Friday or Saturday evening.
If you would have any questions or you would like to get involved please contact the Planning Committee Chair Woman, Rachel Harbold at email@example.com. The other members of the planning committee are also available for those seeking out more information: Vicki Kilgore, Diane Peters, Kate Rodgers, and Clair Ryan.
