Worship & Music
Worship and Music
Our Worship Associates present the introductory material at the beginning of each service. If you’d like to know more about it or want to be a “WA,” contact Deb Brod and Kelly Herz.
"For All Ages" Presenter
"For All Ages" is a short, kid-targeted segment of the service. Most weeks before youth head to their classes, they are invited to spend a few minutes at the front of the sanctuary learning about a topic that's important to our community. They might get to listen to a story, help with a demonstration, or participate in another activity--presenters bring something special to the mix each time. Want to learn more about being a “For All Ages” presenter? Contact the Rev. Dr. Lindsay Bates.
Members of all ages can be an active part of our music ministry! There are 3 ways to participate:
Worship Service Music (all ages)
Our Music Ministry and musicians are an integral part of weekly worship services. Most weekends, someone from the congregation volunteers to sing or play an instrument. More than 40 adults and 30 youth stepped up to present music to the congregation over the course of last year alone. Children, youth, and adults of all abilities are welcome and encouraged to share their gifts. Please contact our Music Director, Tracy Dullea, if you and/or your child are interested in performing during a service or other UUSG event.
Religious Education Music Program (PreK-Grade 5)
This musical component to religious education gives our children the opportunity to learn Unitarian Universalist songs created especially for young people. Each week, before going to classrooms, students will spend 5-10 minutes in the Common Room to learn and sing songs together. Lyrics and melodies will be sent home so young people can sing the songs with their family. Then, twice during the year, the songs will be shared with the congregation during the "For All Ages" segment of the worship service. This program is taught by Sandra Anderson-Cordogan.
Choir (Grade 9-adult)
This year, the choir will perform a total of four times. We are trying a new day and time for rehearsals: 7:00-8:30pm, 2-3 Wednesdays before a performance weekend. Teen youth and adults are welcome to sing for one or all weekends. Sign up here or contact Cynthia Spiegel for questions.
