To provide education and ministry which will nurture the religious growth of our members and friends throughout their life spans. We are guided by our UUSG mission statement, covenant, and the Unitarian Universalist Association purposes and principles.

religious education (RE)

sundays 11 am-12 PM

Our Religious Education (RE) program is offered for school aged children and youth in grades K-12. Classes run Aug. 30, 2026- May 30, 2027. We also have nursery care available for ages 6 months and up.

Kids are grouped according to grade level:

K-2
3-5
6-8 (middle school)
9-12 (YRUU)

All classes are taught by volunteers from the congregation. Volunteers are screened for safety. In addition, our Safe Congregation policy mandates two volunteers be present in every classroom. The program is overseen by our Director of Religious Education for Children and Youth (DRE).

our whole lives (OWL)

We provide our children and youth the following opportunities to participate in Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive sexuality education class. Pending space, participation is open to the public. Please contact our DRE if you are interested.

K-1 OWL:
This comprehensive sexuality education class for children in the K-1 level will be offered in the winter of 2028. See the Curriculum page for details.

5-6 OWL:

This comprehensive sexuality education class for children in the grades 5-6 level will be offered in the winter of 2027. See the Curriculum page for details.

7-9 OWL:
At this age, OWL helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. See the Curriculum page for details. The next offering will be winter/spring 2027.

coming of age

This program is a deeper exploration of spiritual identity for teens. It will be re-introduced in the 2027-2028 school year. Mentors are needed. Please contact dre@uusg.org if you’d like to learn more.

habitat for humanity

Each summer, our high school youth have a unique, meaningful opportunity to build community while building a house with Habitat for Humanity. A group of teens and advisors pack up for Redwing, MN every summer for a week of fulfillment, giving back, bonding, work and play.
