Author and surgeon Atul Gawande considers how medicine can improve not only life but also the process of its ending. Prioritizing quality of life, Gawande shares examples of more socially fulfilling assistance for infirm and elderly patients and explores various models of hospice care that allow for a rich and dignified end of life.
