One Book One UUSG - New Title for 2024
ONLINE DUE TO WEATHER email office@uusg.org for zoom link

Your WOW Team is happy to announce another wonderful literary opportunity for members and friends of UUSG.  Our One Book One UUSG title this January will be Station 11 by Emily St. John Mandel.  Below, you will find a brief description of this post-apocalyptic novel. We will meet on Friday, January 12, at 7:00 pm ONLINE for a discussion and community time led by Melissa Auer and supported by Carol Myers and Glenda Peck.  This title should be available at your local library as well as at some used books sites such as betterworldbooks.com.  Certainly, we also encourage you to support our local Harvey’s Tales and Townhouse Books. Please RSVP to Glenda Peck at wow@uusg.org if you plan to join us so that we may plan accordingly. Simple snacks and coffee will be available. Looking forward to seeing you.

Kirsten Raymonde will never forget the night Arthur Leander, the famous Hollywood actor, had a heart attack on stage during a production of King Lear. That was the night when a devastating flu pandemic arrived in the city, and within weeks, civilization as we know it came to an end. Twenty years later, Kirsten moves between the settlements of the altered world with a small troupe of actors and musicians. They call themselves The Traveling Symphony, and they have dedicated themselves to keeping the remnants of art and humanity alive. But when they arrive in St. Deborah by the Water, they encounter a violent prophet who will threaten the tiny band's existence. And as the story takes off, moving back and forth in time, and vividly depicting life before and after the pandemic, the strange twist of fate that connects them all will be revealed.
