Friday Features: The Fox River Ecosystem and the Dams

Friday, March 22, 2024 at 7pm

The UUSG Green Sanctuary Team will host the Friends of the Fox River's Presentation "The Fox River Ecosystem and the Dams" on Friday, March 22 at 7pm. This event is open and free to the public, all are invited to attend.

The Fox River existed long before there were any dams. It will be here long after the dams are removed, whenever that may be. This project has been contemplated for decades. The Army Corp and INDR will release their review of public comments by Jan. 2025. Recent reports are that nothing will happen until early next year but there is a lot to learn. What did we lose and what will we gain if and when the dams are gone?

The Friends of the Fox  River (FOTFR) have been working to protect and restore the Fox River for more than 30 years. FOTFR has many sister organizations and partner agencies with similar missions to protect and restore local natural resources. What sets FOTFR apart, is that their jurisdiction encompasses the entire Fox River Watershed which includes two states, 15 counties, and over 100 municipalities. Learn how FOTFR has been working collaboratively to realize a slow but steady improvement in the health of the Fox River Watershed.
